The Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8L USM Lens is a replacement for the previous L-series 28-70 lens with a number of improvements lending itself to greater photographic possibilities. With an increased range of 24mm, this lens is ideal for digital, as well as film shooters. The optics are even better than before with a completely new UD glass element and two Aspherical elements. This lens also has a new processing unit making the AF faster than most other lenses in its class and has been made weather-resistant as well.
- Internal Focusing
- This lens incorporates a strengthened optical formula, featuring internal focusing which also enhances focusing speed, durability and handling. Moreover, the lens provides fast and smooth manual focusing in the AF mode through its built-in, full-time mechanical manual focus override.
- Electromagnetically Controlled Automatic Diaphragm
- The new lens uses an electromagnetically controlled automatic diaphragm designed to maintain nearly circular apertures between f/2.8 and f/5.6. A circular aperture makes blurred points of light appear round and makes the background blur more pleasing for greater effect.
- Two Aspherical Elements & UD Element
- UD glass is one of the new technologies to open new possibilities to develop the zoom lenses with low weight and high optical performance. UD elements make it possible to correct chromatic aberrations whilst maintaining low weight and maximum sharpness.
