Digitalfest is the Intermountain West’s largest and most comprehensive annual trade show featuring the best and newest digital imaging products.  Many factory representatives will be on hand to give you a chance to handle the latest products and ask questions about them.  A Friday evening trade show will be open for registered professional photographers and the Saturday trade show is open to the public by ticket.

The recently announced Canon digital video camera, the Canon XL2 Digital Video Camera, will get its first public showing in our area at a special program during the Saturday session.  The Canon representatives will have this astonishing digital wizard on hand for everyone to see.

Friday evening will be open to everyone with a ticket, and it will be featuring our guest presenter, the revolutionary Nick Vedros!  Nick Vedros built his super studio in the heart of America, in Kansas City where he was born.  Vedros is a generalist, with a great twist of humor; his brilliant color photography immediately drew national attention.  A firm believer in mastering photographic theory, he added to his early reputation by taking on difficult assignments and creating a production company to help handle the details.  He quickly became known as a problem solver and as a master of lighting.  This quickly led to shooting assignments for a host of clients: Coca Cola, The Smithsonian, Sony, 3M, Compaq Computers, Hasselblad, Purina, CompUSA, and IBM. Capital One, Microsoft, Eastman Kodak, Dell, Bayer, Colgate, Southwestern Bell, Sprint, Apple Computers, and many others.

Three things most characteristic of Vedros are: He continues to study photographic theory; he will only use the latest equipment; and he is ready to help any photographer with a question or problem.

Vedros became the founding president of the Midwest Chapter of ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers).  In 1987 Eastman Kodak selected him as one of three American photographers to conduct state-of-the-art presentations in their Professional Photographer Forum.  The project called Visions in View took Vedros to the major cities of America. Then in 1991 to 10 cities in China, Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia. In 1994 he was one of two selected from among nationally recognized photographers to join the Hasselblad University faculty.  More recently he was among the American photographers invited for the Canon USA Project, based on the theme: A Special Way of Seeing.  In 2003, Kodak and Apple asked him to do a seven-city fourteen lecture speaking tour, speaking and demonstrating the new advances of the digital world.  Nick will be sponsored by Canon at Digitalfest 2004.

Saturday afternoon we will offer two fantastic educational sessions, which will be open to the public by ticket, and will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 am and at 2:00 – 4:00 pm.  Our featured presenter will be the amazing Photoshop guru Mr. Eddie Tapp.

A sought after lecturer, Eddie has been actively involved in educating and consulting corporations, studios and agencies in the applications of digital imaging workflow, color management, pre-press and digital photography globally through workshops, seminars, on-site consulting and training.
