Important New Features

•   7-color Epson UltraChrome Ink with 8-channel print head technology

The 1" wide, high-performance print head contains 180 nozzles per channel.  With eight color channels times 180 nozzles you get the full 1440 dpi possible. Utilizing Epson’s UltraChrome™ Pigmented Ink technology, you'll produce archival prints with amazing color fidelity, while providing consistently stable colors that significantly outperform standard dye ink technologies.  In order to maximize the use of this remarkable ink technology, Epson developed a unique 8-channel print head capable of handling eight separate ink cartridges simultaneously.  This allows the Epson Stylus Pro 4000 to handle both Photo Black and Matte Black inks at the same time in order to maximize the black density on virtually any media type.

•   Auto switching between Matte Black and Photo Black ink modes

Installed in the ink well bay are both Matte and Photo Black Inks, for automatic switching between black modes.  The paper surface type selected, in the print setup software dialog box, controls the auto switching.  The easy to use front control panel, with back-lit display provides constant updates on ink levels.

•   The fastest Epson Stylus Pro printer ever

New Faster Print Speed

Epson reveals to us some exciting information, such as: The Epson Stylus Pro 4000 prints up to 1.9 times faster than any previous Stylus Pro printer with the help of a new one-inch-wide print head packed with 180 nozzles per channel.  There is a 'Dual CMYK' ink mode” available for different applications and media types that enable users to dedicate all eight channels for running two identical sets of cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks simultaneously.  The Dual CMYK mode provides an ideal combination of high image quality and even faster print speeds (approximately 1.9 times faster than the printer's photographic mode) for applications such as GIS, CAD or plain paper printing.

•    Professional media handling - up to 17" wide

The Epson Stylus Pro 4000 can handle virtually any media type in roll or cut-sheet up to 17" wide.  The 4000 even incorporates a high-capacity paper tray capable of handling cut-sheet media up to 17"x 22".  It allows you to choose from four different ways to load media, including a front-loading straight-through path for media up to 1.5mm posterboard, giving you the ultimate in media flexibility. The built-in high-capacity paper tray handles up to 250 sheets of plain letter-sized paper or up to 50 sheets of photographic media at 17"x 22".  The printer can print on both sides of the media without damaging the previously printed side.  The user-adjustable Roll Media Spindle accepts either 2" or 3" media cores.

•    Maximum resolution of 2880 x 1440 dpi with 3.5 pl drops

With the variable-sized ink droplets being as small as 3.5 Pico liters and with a maximum resolution of 2880 by 1440, this allows for extremely fine blends and photographic transitions.

•    Intelligent high-capacity ink system

The printer has eight 110ml or 220ml ink cartridges, with automatic tracking, monitors key data points such as ink levels, ink type and usage rates, for accurate production cost estimates.  You can greatly increases productivity by replacing ink cartridges on the fly, even during the middle of a print job, with no loss in image quality or production time.  Since the 4000 utilizes both 110ml and 220ml ink cartridges simultaneously, this further optimize ink usage.

•    Professional level RGB ICC profiles

The software shipped with the printer contains enhanced ICC profiling process for ColorSync™ and ICM™ workflows.  With the superior profiles and the inclusion of the printer’s Light Black Ink, significantly improves the printer's gray balance while eliminating color casts.  This also dramatically improves the mid-tones and highlights for smoother transitions.

•    Auto head alignment and nozzle check technologies

Auto Head Alignment & Nozzle Check Technology allows a built-in white beam sensor to precisely align and check all color channels automatically.

•    Exceptional long-term and short-term color stability

Utilizing Epson UltraChrome™ Ink technology, you'll produce archival prints with amazing color fidelity, while providing consistently stable colors that significantly outperform standard dye ink technologies. In order to maximize the use of this remarkable ink technology, we've developed a unique 8-channel print head capable of handling eight separate ink cartridges simultaneously. This allows the Epson Stylus Pro 4000 to handle both Photo Black and Matte Black inks at the same time in order to maximize the black density on virtually any media type.

BorderFree™ Printing

Capable of printing off of both the left and right edges of roll based media, and using the automatic cutter at the top and bottom edges the 4000 produce’s a full-bleed print on all four sides.  The auto trimmer is included and fully trims your finished prints more accurately and safely than by hand
