As mentioned in last months newsletter the
Salt Lake Art Center Photo Department has
teamed up with pictureline to offer educational
opportunities to all those seeking such. The
first short-term workshop is now in place
as an “Introduction to Digital Cameras”. This
is a six-hour class, spread over three evenings,
to provide a fast look at a variety of basic
everyday camera handling techniques and instructions. I
will include the outline of this class at
the bottom of this article, for your examination.
More short-term workshop events and full
term Digital Photography Classes will be
put in place over the next year, as swiftly
as they can be developed. The instructional
faculty at the Art Center includes a group
of top-notch teachers and lab supervisors,
each very skillful and with a very unique
point of view. Current offerings include
Introduction and Advanced Photoshop classes
utilizing Apple E-Mac computers and Epson
scanners and printers. There is also
a Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced photography
and darkroom classes. A number of rotating
and timely workshops are also scheduled annually. Workshops
include photo trips to the Grand Canyon and
Capitol Reef National Parks, studio and outdoor
portraiture, lighting instruction, and Seeking
Creativity. Additionally, affordable
rental darkroom time is available on Monday
evenings and Saturday afternoons.
All instruction includes a fine technical
explanation of camera handling and computer
operational techniques along with the art
of photography. All classes are geared
to helping the participants make competent
functional photographs with a guide towards
creating an artistic and expressive photographic
print. Our well-traveled staff has
glimpsed fine examples of Art and Humanity
from around the world and is here to share
with all.
The “Introduction to Digital Cameras” workshop
is being offered multiple times annually. Here
is a brief outline.
