Canon A650 Recall

Service Notice for Canon PowerShot A650 IS Digital Camera

Canon recently discovered a problem with early production models of the PowerShot A650 IS digital
camera in which a light leak on images taken with the camera could occur at an unacceptable level when shooting with the Vari-Angle LCD monitor open under sunny skies, where light shines on the back of the camera.

Canon has identified the countermeasures necessary to resolve the problem, and has made the required corrections. They expect to begin shipments of the corrected PowerShot A650 IS digital camera at the end of October.

In the meantime, Canon has established return and replacement policies for those PowerShot A650 IS digital cameras that have already been purchased, as follows:

  • Canon USA will shortly announce this issue on their web site. This announcement will explain the procedure for obtaining, free of charge, repairs of PowerShot A650 IS digital cameras exhibiting the above-mentioned problem. Canon will also cover the cost of shipping in connection with this repair.
