ChromaLife 100 System
ChromaLife 100 is a system comprised of FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) printhead, select Genuine Canon inks and select Canon photo papers.* All photographs will fade over time. Light, heat, humidity and environmental gases such as ozone, SOx and NOx are some of the real world factors that can accelerate the rate at which a photo will fade.
Album Life
Up to 100-years of album life may be achieved with Canon Photo Paper Pro, Photo Paper Plus Glossy, Photo Paper Plus Semi-Gloss and Glossy Photo Paper when used with ChromaLife100 inks. (When photos are stored in dark storage such as under a plastic cover sleeve in archival quality photo albums, not exposed to light and in a controlled temperature and humidity environment)*.
Lightfastness
The combination of new Genuine Canon dye inks and Canon Photo Paper Pro or Photo Paper Plus Glossy helps resist fading for up to 30 years when displayed in a glass frame in indoor locations without direct sunlight or other high intensity light. (Lighting conditions of 500 lux/10 hours of light per day are assumed.)*
Gas Fastness
Not all photographs are framed or stored in albums. Many photos are displayed on refrigerators, cubicle walls and bulletin boards. These photographs are exposed to the open air, which contains atmospheric gases. Atmospheric gases cause air fading of photographs produced with dye inks.
Combinations of environmental gases can accelerate color fading. Ozone (O3), nitrous oxides (NOx) and sulfur oxides (SOx) exist in our atmosphere and can contribute to color fading of photos that are exposed to the open air. Permanence testing of photos exposed to ozone alone yields different results than photos exposed to the mixed gases that exist in our atmosphere.
Clear, sharp, longer-lasting images
Displaying or storing inkjet photo prints in rooms with high temperatures and humidity can cause ink migration (ink bleed) and loss of sharpness in photos. Genuine ChromaLife100 inks provide exceptional resistance to these negative effects when used with Canon Photo Paper Pro paper.
Photos printed with Genuine Canon ChromaLife100 compatible inks and Canon Photo Paper Pro paper are designed to resist real world conditions that can cause a photo to fade. Photos printed using Genuine Canon CL-41/51/52, CLI-8 and BCI-16 on Photo Paper Pro PR-101 will retain sharp edge definition, even after exposure to high temperatures and humidity. Some products, on the other hand, can be susceptible to bleeding and may not maintain image quality under such conditions.
Improved Contrast
Higher-density black provides improved contrast. The new dye-based black ink in Genuine Canon CLI-8 and BCI-16 inks boosts optical density (OD) values compared to previous generation product. The improved black increases the contrast not only in black areas but throughout the entire image, enabling the creation of high-quality photo prints with a dynamic three-dimensional feel.
