Canon WFT-E4A Wireless File Transmitter for 5D Mark II Overview

The new WFT-E4A Wireless Transmitter allows you to connect to wireless and wired LANs, and supports FTP, PTP, and HTTP. Thanks to a connection wizard with broad compatibility, network access is sharply improved. The new WFT-E4A is a premier work tool with expanded capability to link up with external storage media and GPS devices and others.

The WFT-E4A pack into a compact body the advanced functions that enhance the production workflow in your photography business. It not only responds to various uses and networks but also offers smooth network configuration. It even comes with a USB host function for expanded connectivity.

Image file transfer to server: FTP mode

The WFT-E2/E2A/E3/E3A/E4/E4A makes workflow smooth and efficient by letting you transfer image files to a designated FTP server via wireless/wired LAN.  Such capability allows other people to check, select and immediately use the photos you've just taken, regardless of shooting location. Higher transmission speeds mean the WFT-E2/E2A/E3/E3A/E4/E4A is ideal for a wide range of fields, from commercial and news photography to commemorative shooting.

FTP Mode Highlights

• Easy network set-up through OS server.
• Automatic transfer of photos the moment they're taken, including the specific image or images you choose.
• Transfer of images viewed on screen with <SET> button.
• Transfer with caption function allows registering up to 15 captions with a maximum of 31 characters to be created and attached to an image file.
• Size and type of data, as well as recording media (CompactFlash, SD Memory card and external storage media) all may be individually selected for automatic transmission when camera is set for media-specific recording in RAW or JPEG, as well as in RAW+JPEG mode.

Remote control of camera: PTP mode

You remotely control your EOS DIGITAL camera via USB connection to a computer with the EOS Utility remote shooting function. The PTP mode of the WFT-E2 / E2A / E3 / E3A now enables remote camera control via wireless/wired LAN plus access to more power and options in studio sessions and fixed-camera shooting. In this mode, of course, all control functions of the EOS Utility, including the shutter, image transfer and folder monitoring, are remotely controlled.

PTP Mode Highlights

• Easy PC connection with bundled WFT Pairing Software.
• Focus, aperture and other camera functions can be set from PC while monitoring images on screen.
• Remote Live View shooting, possible for manual focusing only, enables PC control of functions from zoom out to fine focus, as well as exposure and shutter.

Image browsing on the Web: HTTP mode

One of three data transfer modes, HTTP mode enables remote camera connection while allowing client users to browse and download image data stored on a camera's memory card via Web browser. This mode is compatible with any browser software or OS.
