The EW-54 lens hood is for the EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens. It is a black, petal-style lens hood made to keep undesired side lighting from entering the lens. It does this by extending and shading the end of the lens. Furthermore, since the since the hood extends from the lens, it gives extra protection from accidental impact.
