Saturday was the perfect day to photograph the beautiful plants and flowers that Red Butte Garden had to offer. The weather was amazing, the flowers were blooming and the insects and creatures were a sight to see! There was something to photograph at every turn. Plus, attendees were able to test out a few Canon macro lenses which made it even better.

Roses, lilies, honeysuckles, lavender, and wildflowers galore!

Spring in Utah brings an incredible assortment of plants and insects that come to life in our dry climate. The shape of each unique flower, the bright colors, the bees collecting pollen, and the minute details that can easily go unnoticed are some of the many things that draw admirers to the world of macro photography.

Come join us as we take you on a walk through the beautiful Red Butte Gardens using macro lenses. 

We will meet in front of Red Butte Garden at 3:30pm and will separate into three different groups focusing on different flower arrangements in the gardens.

We will have various Canon macro lenses available to use during the event. And, the pictureline rental department has macro lenses to rent for those who who want to familiarize themselves with a specific lens.

Suggested gear to bring:

  • Tripod
  • Memory card
  • Camera ( Canon will have cameras on hand )
  • Knee pads
  • Water, Hat, and Sunscreen
