The new Canon EOS Ra — Canon’s first full-frame mirrorless astrophotography camera — is designed for photographers looking to capture the amazing views and exquisite details found in the night-time sky. With 30x magnification in both the viewfinder and in Live View shooting, you'll have much more accurate focus, even capturing celestial bodies that may be difficult to see with the human eye. The EOS Ra is Canon's first astro-dedicated mirrorless camera featuring a proprietary 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor with approximately 30.3 megapixels, and also features the DIGIC 8 Image Processor — which means this camera will have you truly seeing stars.
Get a little closer
The first of its kind from Canon, the Canon EOS Ra allows you to view your image in either 5x or 30x magnification, expanding precision control when focusing on distant subjects. Increased 30x magnification can be displayed through the electronic viewfinder as well as the LCD screen.
Cutting-edge filter gets you out of the dark
The filter on the Canon EOS Ra is enhanced to increase sensitivity to hydrogen-alpha rays by nearly four times, allowing astrophotographers to record the vivid, deep-red hues of interstellar nebulae. Where your photos fell flat before, the Canon RA will make sure they shine.
See the sky from any angle
Canon EOS Ra’s Vari-angle LCD touchscreen allows you shoot the sky vertically, perfect for mounting on a telescope. The screen also sports touch-and-drag autofocus, so you can easily pick a focus point without taking your eyes off the image.
Capture with clarity
The high-speed focus of the Canon EOS Ra means you won’t miss a moment — easily and accurately focus on your subject in just 0.05 seconds. This sophisticated AF system also sports 5,655 manually selectable autofocus positions, and can be configured to focus on any specific area using an extended range of modes.
Made for movies
Easily capture the subtle movement of stars in 4k with the Time-lapse Movie mode on the Canon EOS Ra. Recording video during still photo shooting is made even easier by simply pressing the Movie Shooting button. Canon Log reduces heavy shadows and blown out highlights, delivering exquisite detail. The HDMI port on the Canon EOS Ra delivers 4k video directly to an external drive, and can also output 10-bit move footage in ITU-R BT.2020 color when the Canon Log setting is in use.
Don’t lose those lenses
Designed to work well with the rest of the EOS family, the Canon EOS Ra supports all RF lenses. But when you use one of three available optional mount adapters, your EF and EF-S lenses are also supported.
