In More to Photography Part Seven, we'll take all of the skills we learned in parts 1-6 and put them to the test. Not only will this give you an opportunity to participate in valuable hands on learning, but it will also give you the chance to connect with other members of our photographic community.  We will have pictureline instructors on location to offer helpful hints and technical assistance while we explore the beautiful surroundings our city has to offer.  So let's grab our cameras, our lenses, and our talent and get out and practice in this beautiful city!

Set Goals for Photo Walk

We'll begin this class by meeting together at Pictureline and discussing with one another the things we'd like to practice and capture while shooting. It's important to do this before every shoot so that you can be prepared and happy with the images you created.

Photo Walk

From Pictureline we will head out to a location in Salt Lake City where we can practice the skills we've acquired in previous classes! Maybe there is a topic like aperture, or composition that you are struggling with? This will be the perfect opportunity to work through any hesitations or insecurities you may have when it comes to shooting, because your instructor will be right beside you ready to help.

How to Evaluate Pictures on the Spot

Maybe the perfect shot you envisioned didn't come out like you were imagining? No problem, you'll learn how to evaluate and respond to the feedback your images are giving you. This is an important skill for photographers at any level because when photographing anything it's crucial to be able to act fast and bounce back from your mistakes.

How To Share Photos with a Community

An important part to growing your photography business or your audience is by sharing your photos with the people around you. We'll teach you how to go about this in a professional way, and create a cohesive style that people will remember and respond to.

If this is your first photowalk we’d like to offer a couple of useful tips prior to the date:

*Pack light - Although you may be tempted to bring every bit of photo gear you own, in the case of photowalks less is usually more.  Your camera body, one lens, an extra battery, and a light tripod is a great portable kit for this style of shooting.

*Dress accordingly - Weather along the Wasatch Front is often less than predictable so be sure to keep an eye on the forecast and dress accordingly.  Your most comfortable pair of shoes will also want to come along on your journey.

Whether you purchased your first camera yesterday, or you’re a seasoned professional, we’d love to have you join us for a great day of shooting!
