Artist Spotlight – Haley Carver

One of our favorite things about being a camera store is getting to interact with and support local creators. Today we are excited to feature a stellar wedding and couple photographer based right here in Salt Lake City! We are pleased to spotlight Haley Carver!

We've asked Haley a few questions about her photography journey so let's find out more about her below!

How did you get into photography and when did you get your first camera?

I got my first camera in 2011 for Christmas! I loved photography in elementary school and would take pictures of anyone who would let me. I started taking it more seriously in 2014 (my junior year of high school) when I shot my first wedding. Over the years, it naturally turned from a hobby to a profession & I couldn't be more happy about it!

What is your current go-to camera setup?

I shoot primarily on the Canon R6! My favorite lens is the EF 35mm F1.4 that I use with the adapter. Other lenses I use frequently are the RF 24-70mm F2.8 + the RF 50mm F1.2!

What’s the shot that you're most proud of?

I love this photo of a bridal party I took this year! Their energy and excitement for the bride and groom was contagious, and I feel like you can really feel that in the photo.

What advice do you have on how to make your clients feel comfortable?

Treat them like your friends! Get to know them on a personal level. Prepare them for the shoot so they know what to expect. If they are having fun, the photos will turn out amazing!

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you first started?

Being a photographer is way more than clicking a button. When you're a photographer, you wear a lot of hats! It's extremely time-consuming but worth all the hard work!

Thank you Haley for letting us get to know you better! If you want to see more of Haley's photography, check out her Instagram or visit her website

Hi, I'm Haley Carver! I love my dog, my husband Cam, spending time with my family + friends, the way the world looks just after the sun goes to sleep, eating pizza or tacos near the beach, and you guessed it... photos! As a wedding photographer, I get to combine my love for people and my love for photography which makes me over the moon happy. Some of my work was on the cover of Utah Valley Bride, which was a dream come true for me! I photograph weddings primarily in Utah, but also all over the U.S and I've even had sessions in Paris, France and Johannesburg, South Africa. If i'm not photographing a wedding, i'm probably convincing my husband to get a treat with me, planning a trip, or reading a new book.
