Beyond the Pose: Capturing Genuine Expression

Tamara Lackey

Class details
Many of the most unforgettable photographs aren't defined by perfect light, flawless composition or ideal locations. They're defined by genuine expression. Whether photographing children, families, pets or wildlife, the ability to recognize and capture authentic moments transforms a good image into one people remember. In this presentation, Tamara shares the techniques and mindset she has developed over more than two decades of photographing people and animals around the world. More than simply discussing the theory behind authentic expression, she walks attendees through her process step by step, demonstrating exactly how she builds trust, creates connection, guides interactions and recognizes the fleeting moments that reveal genuine personality.

Keynote | From Vision to Image: Building Photographs with Intention

Sep 25 · 7:00pm– 8:30pm

Keynote | From Vision to Image: Building Photographs with Intention

Dixie Dixon

Class details
In this inspirational and educational keynote, Canon Explorer of Light Dixie Dixon shares the creative process behind her cinematic fashion, lifestyle, and advertising photography and the lessons she’s learned throughout her career behind the camera. She will take you behind the scenes of real-world shoots to explore how an idea evolves from a simple concept into a finished photograph. She’ll break down how she uses light, location, composition, movement, color, lens choice, and intentional direction to build images that feel dimensional, immersive, and alive. Beyond technique, Dixie will explore one of the most important—and often overlooked—parts of becoming a successful photographer: developing your own creative voice. She’ll share how curiosity, experimentation, preparation, and learning to trust your instincts can help you create work that feels distinctly your own, while navigating the inevitable challenges and uncertainty of a creative career. Attendees will walk away with practical techniques for creating stronger photographs, fresh ideas for approaching their next shoot, and renewed inspiration to take creative risks, tell meaningful stories, and create the kind of work they truly want to be known for. Whether you’re just beginning your photography journey or have been behind the camera for years, this keynote is a reminder that the most powerful tool you bring to any shoot isn’t in your camera bag—it’s the way you see the world.

Posing—What Separates Good Shots from Unforgettable Ones

Roberto Valenzuela

Class details
Every professional can take a technically correct photo, but posing without the look of posing is what turns a subject into a story and a client into a raving fan. This class by Roberto Valenzuela breaks down the posing principles top photographers use to create images that feel alive, not staged: reading body language, directing with confidence, and adapting on the fly to any subject or setting. If you've ever wondered why some photographers' work just pops and others looks staged, this is the missing piece.
