Going for the Optimum in Image Making

This year’s PhotoOp presents two seasoned photographers who will share their approaches to capturing great images. Two sessions will include proven steps to better composition, dealing with challenging shooting conditions and a number of ways to optimize getting a great exposure.

The Wasatch Camera Club and Pictureline are pleased to present Adam Jones and Adam Barker at this year’s PhotoOp 17. Slated for Saturday, March 25th this year’s event will continue the dual presenter format with Adam Jones presenting in the morning and Adam Barker in the afternoon. (See their biographies below.)

Morning Session

Adam Jones, a Canon Explorer of Light, will present Getting the Most Out of Digital Photography. This presentation will focus on three different topics. Beginning with an overview of different types of images that Adam has created. From there, he will discuss "Demystifying Flash" where he will cover basic use of full flash and fill flash photography. Clarifying the differences in the two and how and when to use each, and associated camera settings for both. A portion of Adam's presentation will also be dedicated to "Creative Depth of Field", where he will cover using depth of field as a creative decision and how to control it. You will learn more about Landscapes, Macro, Wildlife, Night Sky, HDR, and Focus Stacking images.

Afternoon Session

Outdoor and action photographer Adam Barker’s presentation, CONNECTIVITY: Capturing Images that Connect with Viewers will share his insight into how he creates imagery that truly resonates with viewers. With examples from his trips to Antarctica and Southeast Asia,  you will learn how Barker utilizes photography fundamentals like three-dimensional composition and pre-visualization in his quest to wow the viewer.
PhotoOp is open to everyone, but registration is required as seating is limited. There is a small charge to cover event expenses. This will be the sixth PhotoOp the club has offered and attendance has grown each year.
