Eight Audio Recording Modes
Super-directional (Front+Rear): This mode evenly captures sound from the front and rear of the microphone, making it perfect for interviews where the subject is in front of the camera, and the operator is behind it.
Super-directional: This mode records sound clearly from the front while effectively suppressing ambient noise, making it ideal for shooting or streaming videos where the subject is directly in front of the microphone.
Uni-directional: With a wider recording area in front of the microphone, this mode is perfect for capturing conferences or meetings.
Omni-directional: It picks up sound equally from all directions, making it suitable for recording the surrounding environment's audio.
Super-directional (Rear): In this mode, sound is primarily captured from the rear of the microphone, making it useful for shooting scenery while providing narration from behind the camera.
Super-directional (Front/Rear) Separate: Here, sound is picked up equally from the front and rear of the microphone, allowing for adjustments of the front and rear sound levels during post-production editing.
Stereo: Achieve realistic stereo sound positioning for moving subjects and performances, making it great for shooting cars, trains, and live events.
Ultra-directional: Capture target sound from the front with precision while effectively suppressing surrounding noise, making it ideal for interviews or selfies.
Multi Interface (MI) Shoe Support
The ECM-M1 can be easily connected to your camera through the Multi Interface (MI) Shoe, eliminating the need for additional batteries or cables. Power is supplied directly from the camera, allowing you to focus on your content without worrying about power management.
Simple Controls for Easy Operation
Operating the ECM-M1 is a breeze. The microphone features an intuitive dial on the rear for easy selection of pickup patterns, with a center lock button to prevent accidental changes. Other controls are straightforward and easy to understand, ensuring a seamless recording experience.
Digital Noise Cut Filter for Clear Sound
The ECM-M1 incorporates a complete digital pathway, from beamforming control to noise filtering and camera interfacing. This results in the clearest sound imaginable, ensuring that every audio capture is free from unwanted noise.
Digital Audio Interface
Enjoy an all-digital signal path from microphone to camera, eliminating the noise and distortion associated with analog transmission. This preserves the full benefits of digital signal processing within the microphone, delivering pristine audio quality.
Mechanical Noise Suppression
The microphone's design effectively dampens shock and vibration, minimizing low-frequency mechanical noise. Additionally, the absence of connecting cables prevents noise transmission through mechanical means, ensuring clean audio recordings.
The ECM-M1 comes with a detachable fur-type windscreen that reduces wind noise during outdoor shooting, ensuring your audio remains clear and crisp.
New Compact, Lightweight Design
With four microphone capsules arranged in a rhombic pattern and beamforming technology, this microphone is incredibly compact and lightweight, measuring just 64.4 x 40.0 x 72.2 mm and weighing a mere 65 grams. This design ensures maximum shooting freedom and mobility.
Backup Safety Recording
For added security, the ECM-M1 offers 4-channel recording with compatible cameras, making channels 3 and 4 ideal for creating backup "safety" recordings. This ensures you never miss a crucial audio moment.
The microphone features comprehensive, clearly marked controls for adjusting and confirming all microphone settings, including filter selection, source level matching, and more.
Dust and Moisture Resistant Design
The ECM-M1 is built to withstand challenging outdoor conditions with its dust and moisture-resistant design, ensuring reliable operation wherever your creativity takes you.
