I ordered the Tamron 28-200 hoping that it would provide an "all-in-one" solution to adventure photography, specifically used for mountain biking. The build quality is very good, the lens zooms in and out smoothly and the image quality is excellent when used with static subjects. Unfortunately, it focuses too slowly when used with fast moving subjects, i.e. mountain bikers. I found this to be true in both bright, sunny conditions and inside darker environments such as singletrack through trees.
I used the lens to shoot a handful of landscapes and a couple macro subjects, and it was fantastic. Very sharp, good image quality at all focal lengths and apertures, and the close focus capability is outstanding.
In the end, if you're looking for an all-in-one lens for travel or landscapes, you'd be very happy with this lens. If you need a lens for action photography...look elsewhere.
On a side note, Pictureline customer service was phenomenal, as always. I live in Moab and have made many purchases from Pictureline. I appreciate that I'm able to shop "locally" with a store who very much cares about their customers. Thanks, Pictureline!
