Digitalfest 2012 Recap

This weekend, we held our 12th annual Digitalfest—the biggest party of the year where we gather the best photographers and vendors in the biz to for two days packed full of free classes and workshops, expert knowledge, and tons of great gear.

Vendor Show
For two days, the pictureline store was turned into a vendor show featuring all the latest and greatest products from our stellar vendors. Products like the new D600 and XF1 were on display for attendees to try out, and the vendors offered up some phenomenal deals on gear not available anywhere else.

Keynote
The highlight of this year's event was welcoming renowned wedding and portrait photographer, Hanson Fong, as the keynote speaker.

Hanson killed it on Friday night with his keynote seminar on lighting and posing. Hanson provided hands-on examples of how to pose groups and couples and offered invaluable insight into the art of balancing your portrait subjects. Hanson provided a variety of tips throughout the evening, including simple posing techniques like determining A and B body types, varying heights with posing blocks, and lighting from behind. He also kept the crowd laughing, making for an educational and entertaining evening.

Keynote attendees were also treated to a free dinner from a local Utah favorite, Red Iguana. Attendees were able to mingle and network while jamming to the mariachi band and feasting on the finest Mexican cuisine Salt Lake has to offer.

Workshops
Digitalfest 2012 was packed with free workshops, including Lightroom and Photoshop seminars from Adobe, DSLR and video classes from Canon and Nikon, and more classes from Hanson Fong.

Hanson gave the crowd more hands-on teaching in Saturday's Joy of Wedding Photography workshop. Hanson took a bride and groom outside to show attendees how to deal with different outside lighting situations and how to create studio backgrounds from the bride's dress and other available materials. Workshop attendees were able to bring their cameras along to try their hand at Hanson's techniques.

Watching Hanson work was an incredible experience for all who attended, and his final product is shown below. A huge thanks to Strong Audi for providing the R8!
