As Fujifilm’s first 102 MP mirrorless medium format system, the GFX 100 is revolutionizing the way photographers and filmmakers express themselves. With decades of research and experience, Fuji has made significant breakthroughs in medium format auto-focus performance with their hybrid phase-detection system including face and eye detection. Not only this, the Fujifilm GFX 100 is giving filmmakers a way to achieve new heights with large format 4K/30p video.
102MP Medium Format Imaging Sensor
With the combination of a newly-developed back-illuminated 102MP imaging sensor and Fuji’s incredibly fast X Processor 4 engine, the GFX 100 can produce 16-bit images that have breathtaking rich shadow detail, color fidelity, and dynamic range. Given the new back-illuminated structure, it can optimize the image quality, extend the native ISO and reduce noise levels that are usually experienced with mirrorless cameras.
To ensure the GFX 100 high-resolution sensor produces sharp images, the camera has a 5-axis image stabilization system that features a dedicated dual processor that works conjointly with gyroscopic accelerometers, allowing for enhanced stability and speed. This prevents any small vibrations that can interfere while you are capturing an image, which also makes capturing with a medium format system in low-light possible even when shooting hand-held with a non-optically stabilized lens.
Auto-Focus for Medium Format
When comparing to other large format digital systems, the GFX 100 auto-focus performance is in a league of its own. By having the AF phase detection pixels across most of the sensor, photographers can acquire the focus of their subjects at any point in the frame. At approximately 100% sensor coverage, photographers can perform optimum subject tracking and face/eye detection, with enhanced auto-focus speed and accuracy.
Pushing the Limit for Filmmakers
Even though digital cinema has moved towards a larger format (35mm x 24mm), there aren’t many options for creatives who are interested in big sensors. With a 43.9mm x 32.9mm sensor, the GFX 100 gives filmmakers an excellent alternative to accomplish their inspired aspirations. Supporting a new sensor and processor, the GFX 100 can record 4K video at 30p/10bit. With a medium format, cinematographers can achieve a unique cinematic look through great control over depth of field and film-like tonality.
Brilliance in Color Science
With Fujifilm’s 85 years of history in research and development in color imaging, the Fuji GFX 100 benefits from the same venerated color processing engine that is used in other X Series and GFX cameras. To give filmmakers and photographers a way to realize their creative vision, the GFX provides 16 film simulation modes, allowing you to choose purpose-specific photographic emulsions.
Tethered Support for Capture One
For photographers using medium format cameras, having tethered capture is essential. To help photographers develop and maintain a smooth system, The Fuji GFX 100 utilizes Capture One software. By using Capture One, professionals can process raw images quickly and have the option of using Fujifilm’s Film Simulations during conversion.
