Please join Phillips Gallery May 17th-June 14th as they welcome Rodger Newbold to their gallery.
Rodger Newbold has been photographing throughout the western United States for over forty-four years. Mr. Newbold’s photographs of the American West have been exhibited and published extensively, since 1980. Influenced by his studies with Ansel Adams and others of the west coast style, his work initially reflected those characteristics. Now, several years later, his personal opinions of the Great American West and a host of new interests are clearly seen in his images. Currently he is a creator of artistic, expressive, and educational content using the medium of photography.
In 1997, Mr. Newbold was honored by the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce with the distinguished
Honors In The Arts award for his outstanding contributions to Utah arts heritage.
He has also received Two GOLD Awards [2008 & 2012] from the New York publishing giant, Graphis, for his work in their books.

He has also inspired hundreds of students through four and a half decades of teaching at the Salt Lake Art Center, the University of Utah and other personally conducted workshops.
In Rodger’s most recent work he represents a living continuation of Photography as an Art form from the Ansel Adams traditional time frame into new areas of digital image capture, computer post processing, image printing, and electronic publishing and presentation.
