Most notably, the MP count has graduated to 30.4MP. Its predecessor, the EOS 5D Mark III, had only 22.3 MP.

The native ISO capability of the Mark IV has been extended to 32,000 from the Mark III's maximum of 25,600. Comparatively, the Mark IV has also gained another frame-per-second of continuous RAW shooting, supporting 7FPS.

The Mark IV is the first of the EOS 5D series to support 4K video recording at 30p & 24p. In-camera still frame grab of 4K footage produces 8.8-Megapixel images. Additional video options include Full HD up to 60p, and HD up to 120p.

The AF point count has not changed from the previous model, with 61 total focus points – 41 of them cross-type. However, Canon has said that vertical coverage has been expanded, and AF is possible at all 61 AF points with many lens + extender combinations effective at f/8.
