Canon Introduces the M6 Mark II, 90D, RF 15-35 F2.8 and RF 24-70 F2.8

Today, Canon released four new products: The Canon EOS M6 Mark II, the EOS 90D, the RF 15-35 F2.8 L IS USM lens and the RF 24-70 F2.8 L IS USM lens.

Canon continues to ramp up its mirrorless game with the new Canon EOS M6 Mark II and RF lenses. The Canon M6 Mark II now has a 32.5 Megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor, a big jump from the previous M6’s 24.2-megapixel sensor. It also comes equipped with the latest DIGIC 8 image processor and ISO range of 100-25600 (expandable to 51200).

The Canon M6 Mark II can now capture high-speed continuous shooting with up to 14 fps with AF/AE tracking and up to 30 fps with RAW Burst Mode. The new Dual Pixel CMOS AF comes with 5,481 selectable positions with Face and Eye Detection that can be used while recording 4K video. While we are talking about video, it shoots 4K 30p / FHD 120p. Touch and Drag AF can work with the optional viewfinder which is included in the lens kit but sold separately from the EOS M6 Mark II body.

The M6 Mark II has a 3.0-inch LCD monitor that tilts up 180 degrees and down 45 degrees. It now is USB charge compatible, so you can charge your camera easily without taking out the battery and has both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities. The M6 Mark II will come in either black or silver and will be available on September 28th. It will be $849 for the body, $1099 for the EF-M 15-45mm F/3.5-6.3 IS STM Lens Kit or $1,349 for the 18-150mm F/3.5-6.3 IS STM Lens Kit.

Like the M6 Mark II, the Canon EOS 90D also has a 32.5 Megapixel CMOS (APS-C) Sensor, new DIGIC 8 image processor and ISO range of 100-25600. It has a 45-point all cross-type AF system that supports up to 27 Points with an f/8 metering. The EOS 90D camera is equipped with an advanced 220,000-pixel AE sensor and Canon’s EOS Intelligent Tracking and Recognition system that can detect and track your face even while looking through the viewfinder. The EOS 90D also has the new Dual Pixel CMOS AF that comes with 5,481 selectable positions and Eye Detection.

The 90D has high-speed continuous shooting of up to 10 fps with no time lag during OVF shooting. For video, it can shoot 4K (UHD) 30fps / FHD 120fps and has an electronic shutter system with speeds from 1/16000 second.

The 90D has a 3.0-inch Vari-angle Touch Screen LCD and is Bluetooth and Wi-Fi compatible. The Canon EOS 90D will be available on September 12th. It was be priced at $1,199 for the body only, $1,345 for the 18-55mm IS STM Lens Kit or $1,599 for the 18-135 IS USM Lens Kit.

RF 15-35mm F2.8 L IS USM Lens

The RF 15-35mm F2.8 lens is a wide-angle, L-series lens that offers a bright 9-blade aperture system with an f/2.8 maximum aperture. This lens is perfect for landscape, architecture and other wide-angle photographers. For quiet and smooth focusing, it comes equipped with Canon’s Nano USM technology and up to 5 stops of shake correction to deliver clear results.

It has a minimum focusing distance of 0.92ft/0.28m. Like most of the RF lenses, it comes with the control ring located at the top of the lens for custom setting adjustments during still and video shooting and a 12-pin communication system. The lens features Canon’s Air Sphere Coating which reduced lens flare and ghosting.

The RF 15-35mm F2.8 will be dust and weather resistant and will be available on September 28th for $2,299.

RF 24-70mm F2.8 L IS USM Lens

The RF 24-70mm F2.8 is a versatile lens and can be a workhorse for portrait, wedding and travel photographers. It has a minimum focusing distance of 0.69 ft./0.21m (wide), 1.25 ft./0.38m (tele) and works well for video, especially when tracking moving subjects with Canon’s Nano USM technology for accurate and silent AF. It also has 5 stops of shake correction and delivers beautiful, clear images.

Like all RF lenses is has a control ring and 12 pin communication system. It has Canon’s Air Sphere Coating which reduced lens flare and ghosting. It will come with a lens information display that is shown right in the viewfinder, making it easy to see the focal length.

The 24-70mm F2.8 will be dust and weather resistant with fluorine coating. It will be available on September 28th for $2,299.
