High CRI Light Source Designed Specifically for Film Scanning with High Color Accuracy - An Industry First at This Price Point
Good scans start with good light. We aimed to create an affordable light source specifically for the camera/film scanning community. With brighter bulbs and high color accuracy, the Negative Supply 4x5 Light Source Basic makes scanning film with a digital camera easy and straight forward, allowing you to use lower ISO settings and retain higher shutter speeds.
HIGH CRI, ACCURATE COLOR
Accurate color starts with full spectrum light. Our Light Source Basic and Light Source Pro options have all been designed using the latest LED bulbs with either 95 or 99 CRI, this allows for more accurate and true to life colors when capturing E6 or negative film.
SUPER BRIGHT LIGHT FOR FAST CAPTURE
A brighter light source allows for higher shutter speeds and sharper images, and additionally allows faster workflows, so you can spend more time taking photos, and less time scanning. Our entry model is up to 2x brighter than competitor options, and our Light Source Pro options are up to 9.5x brighter than many competing options.
PART OF OUR FILM CARRIER ECOSYSTEM
The 4x5 light source options fits under both the Film Carrier for 120 and 35mm films.
Why choose the 99 CRI version over our 95 CRI offering? It’s all about color accuracy!
95 CRI is sufficient for general film scanning, but for those working heavily with color film, scanning mounted slides/transparencies, or those for whom color/tonal accuracy is an absolute must, our 99 CRI offering is a necessity.
The below graphs from our in-house testing compares our 95 and 99 CRI bulbs. You’ll notice significantly improved performance across the board with our 99 CRI light, with its strongest improvements in R4, R9, R10, R11, and R12 channels. Namely blue and red channels are much, much more accurate.
